The best way to illustrate the sound and versatility of the new Castro organ is to listen to its closest relative—the Harrah Symphonic Organ in Hurricane, West Virginia.

Most of the sounds heard here will be represented in the Castro Symphonic Theatre Organ, but our organ will include 37 more theatre organ ranks, as well as a full complement of digitally sampled orchestral instruments.

Here’s an example of the theatrical side of the Hurricane organ.

It’s a Grand Night for Singing

The classical and orchestral dimensions of the instrument, which are not available at all on the Castro Wurlitzer, are heard here in Richard Strauss’s music.

Theme: 2001: A Space Odyssey

This great movie music by Alfred Newman illustrates the many tonal palettes of the large Harrah organ—classical organ, symphonic organ, theatre organ, and virtual orchestra. You’ll hear some of the Audio Impressions strings at 2:10 and 4:05. The theatre organ sound, beginning at 4:24, will be greatly enhanced in the Castro organ. The arrangement reaches its climax with full classical organ, starting at 5:21.
